3rd Placing - A1GP Pitstop Endurance Race

It was just after returning from Phuket on May 23, 2008; had to be at an endurance race early in the morning. Didn't sleep much as I reached home from Phuket at about 11.30pm, then waited for Zaki to come over and pass me the helmet with Thomas Biagi design on it. The paint job was excellent. But it has to be returned for a final touch-up.

Anyway, reached City Karting track at Shah Alam at 7.30am sharp. Very little people turn up in the early time. But many came in one after another. There was 21 teams in total after the registration closed. Had a briefing on the event and a couple of A1 guys came. Mostly mechanics. Alex Yoong didn't got to turn up for the event as he was busy preparing himself for testing and the upcoming race. But we still had great fun.

My team; Team Racing Aliens consists of Naza (Sifu), Tarmizi, Uncle Razak (only 49kg) and me; being the heaviest in the team. Was eating too much in Phuket. Too delicious and couldn't resist eating them. Hehehe~ We qualified 3rd place and started at it. It was a good start. The strategy was Tarmizi being the 1st driver, then Naza, me and lastly putting the lightest driver, Razak to sprint to the finish. The kart performance was good from start to the end. But I was unlucky. When the time I went out on the track, we were at 4th place. All the teams in front of us, use their secret weapon (lightest driver) to sprint away. I was left behind and couldn't catch up. After Razak went out, where we were still at 4th place; we thought that there was no chance for us to be on the podium.

I reckon luck is on our side for the day, as 2nd placing team had a problem with their kart and have to pit to check the problem. With that, we instantly gain one place and became 3rd place. Everyone was happy and went home as a champion. I was happy.. very happy. We celebrated Desmond's and Razak's birthday at the track. Their birthday was on the same month. Desmond was on the 23rd. Not sure about Razak.

Tired and a happy weekend~

My 1st Bungy Jump at Phuket

It takes a lot of courage to make my decision. And finally the decision was made on; since I am already there, why not. It started with signing this death contract. The steps are simple:
  1. Sign the contract
  2. Weight yourself
  3. Tie your legs together
  4. Hop on to the platform
  5. Platform lifts up to 50m
  6. Reaches 50m
  7. JUMP!!!!!
As the platform gets higher by the meters, my heart beats faster and faster. I was talking to this guy who is an employee that has to supervise everything on the platform. I asked; Have you jump before? He answered; Yes! Many times. How was the 1st time, scary?; I asked. He said, yes~ Now that is not a good answer I want to hear. The platform moves in a very slow pace, suddenly I feel that it's taking so long to reach 50m. The platform stopped. My heart beats are now like a million per second.

I have to take a very deep breath before I screamed out the words; Three! Two! One! Bungyyyyyyyyyy~ After that it's history. The feeling is hard to describe. I would say it is exactly the same feeling when I went for the skydiving. Speechless~

Will I be doing it another time? Of course!!! If I am still young. The next jump should be in the original country; New Zealand. That is my next target.

What A Sunday

What a Sunday when you have to wake up early in the morning. As early as 7am. It's a Sunday for christ sake. Anyway, it was for something worth it. Prayers with my dad and having breakfast with him. Being a good son, is a son's job anyway. But this weird call came when we were at the temple ready for prayers. It was a female on the other side of the phone call. She was looking for a person called "Heng". Well, for some reason, when you received a phone call that is not belongs to you, you definitely will tell the other person that there is no such person and you have made a wrong call. I was surprised that she does not believe me. She thinks that I am joking. But I hung up the phone seconds later I told her its a wrong phone call that she made. And I started my prayers with dad.

More weird thing happens. The female that made the wrong call, eventually text me and said that she cried the whole night and if you don't believe what she said, she has nothing to say. I was like "duhhh~" Who the hell are you? Then she called again. And this time I didn't pick up the phone. Why should I; I was thinking. So I just let it ring till it cuts off. The best part is; she left me a voice message.. hahaha~ Well, I was curious about what she will say, so I called up the voice mail and listened. She said "Please call me back. If you don't, I won't answer your call anymore".. Hahahaha~ I was laughing my ass off. What a weird person who doesn't believe that she made a wrong phone call.

After all this stupid nonsense call, I went to RL Karting (Richard Lim) to purchase my rib protector. It was weeks ago that I hurt my ribs muscle during karting on my 125cc kart; a swiss hutless. Finally my very first racing machine. The pain has caused me trouble moving around for weeks too. But now it has got better. The rib protector; Freem costs me RM600 for it. Some people might say its so much expensive. Like my wife (Eva), she said why need to pay so much for it. So then I answered "which is more expensive, the rib protector or the surgery of my ribs if it got hurt, or cracked; worst still, fractured ribs". She kept quiet.. hehehehe~ For those who are into karting, really; get a Freem rib protector. It really save your ribs from being injured.

Nothing much for a Sunday; as my karting friends; Naza, Tarmizi, Mumu, Zainy, went down the track for practice on their 125cc kart; and I was just looking. Permit was not approved by my wife. Reason; I just recovered from my muscle pain. So she wants me to rest for another week.
